About

Meet Eric, aka Neurodivergent Dad. First introduced to the world of autism in 2013 when his son was diagnosed, Eric himself received a diagnosis of Level One Autism Spectrum Disorder at age 58. After the initial shock wore off and he began to move through the grieving process, ND Dad's innate curiosity and positivity began to take over. He decided then and there to dive headfirst into the world of neurodiversity - dare we say, he embraced it - and has chosen to invite others to follow him on his journey of self-discovery and acceptance. He's also vowed to increase his comfort level in regard to sharing his artistic talents with others as he shares hope, humor, art and inspiration with all!

Art

Eric has been drawing, painting and creating works of art in various forms since he was a child. During his college years he studied both fine art and commercial art, as well as design principles and color theory at The Minneapolis College of Art & Design and University of Minnesota. As a freelance illustrator he was commissioned by a variety of organizations to create pen & ink line art, pencil, colored pencil, pastel, marker, acrylic paint, and airbrush illustrations, as well as animation and storyboards. Subjects ranged from medical and technical illustration to figure drawing, portraiture, wildlife, landscape, vehicles, cartoon art and more.

Just prior to receiving his autism diagnosis, Eric had re-discovered his passion for creating art and has found that it has become a sort of therapy for him - allowing him to express himself, process emotions and communicate via the various mediums he chooses.

In addition to painting, Eric is currently enjoying bringing his unique perspective to life via cartoons and is challenging himself to explore the elusive and fascinating realm of abstract art.
